Fay Breitbart,

Massage Therapy Specialist

My journey to help people began long ago…

when I was 12 years old and would massage my dad’s back and neck for a penny a minute. Through my teens and early adulthood, I developed a fascination with the human body – how it works and sometimes doesn’t – and I became a personal trainer at 23. From there, pursuing a career in massage therapy came naturally to me. I attended the Swedish Institute of Massage in Manhattan, where I learned the therapeutic value of Swedish massage for deep relaxation. This became my specialty, and I have been honing my skills for nearly 30 years.

For many years, I lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan, where I worked at high-end spas, learning how to use aromatherapy, heat, and sound to elevate the massage to a more fulfilling experience.

I am also fascinated with other types of massage therapies, including Esalen massage, which features long flowing strokes to coax the nervous system into a deep state of relaxation. Using this technique allows our muscles to let go, our breath to deepen, and our mind to become quiet.

I enjoy educating my clients about all aspects of massage, especially deep tissue. Spoiler: it's not about the pressure.

About ten years ago, I left New York for the village of Saxapahaw, NC, west of Chapel Hill, and decided to live in this idyllic village with a supportive, lively, and artistic community.

I am so grateful to be here, and I am thrilled to be able to provide massage therapy in this beautiful space in Carrboro.
